F260 Day 40: Exodus 30-31

Exodus 30-31

In these chapters Moses receives the final instructions for the Tabernacle and how Israel is to worship God. There are lots of important details in this chapter. Two stand out. First is the census offering. This offering shows that everyone is equal in God’s eyes. No man or woman is worth more or less based on their wealth or lack thereof. We are all equally God’s image bearers.

Second, God emphasizes the Sabbath rest. The building of the Tabernacle was going to be long and tedious work, but it was work for the Lord. Yet, this work for the Lord was no excuse for not worshipping. Even today we would be wise to remember this principle. The work of the ministry is not synonymous with worship and intentional time with the Lord. Furthermore, this is more than obligation, the Sabbath should be celebrated.

Do you celebrate the Sabbath?
